Designed for entertaining and family enjoyment, this minimalist farmhouse features an open interior layout with large outdoor living spaces. The traditionally lined and classic front exterior along with the lap siding, standing seam roof, and wood clad two-over-two windows are a nod to the farmhouse; while the modern floor plan, expansive back glass doors, and disciplined finish out support to create the perfect balance of modern and classic.

There are 4 bedrooms and “secret” 3rd floor loft. Reinforcing the intentional design for entertaining, the home features a “back kitchen,” pool and three separate porches totaling over 1200 sq. ft. The large screened-in porch connected to the dining room includes retractable screens, a wood-fired oven and fireplace.

The home is Energy Star Rated but exceeds the requirements. This home is also fully automated and controlled through a single interface. The automation controls: closed circuit TVs/cameras, alarm system, pool control, HVAC, irrigation, shades, ventilation and lighting.

Honesty, extensive industry knowledge, and personal attention are what clients find with Thomas Development and Construction. Owner and third-generation contractor Matthew Thomas’ has more than 20 years of extensive commercial and residential construction experience having built numerous homes, countless renovations as well as constructed multi-million-dollar buildings, hotels, industrial warehouses and mixed-use developments.

Until Prospect Homes purchased it, the featured property remained undeveloped for several years. This triangle shaped lot connecting two neighborhoods, Briarwood and Bluffview, was a mess of sagging power lines and out-of-use utility poles. The entire property was such a challenge that the vacant lot changed owners several times before landing in the inspired hands of Brian Manes, owner of Prospect Homes.

The lofty vision for the Linwood house is centered on a design that approaches the triangular lot as an advantage, lending the home to be built in the unique architectural style of the Dogtrot house. Dogtrot homes, also known as breezeway houses, appeared during the early 19th century in the American South with the purpose of circulating cooler outside air into the home through the breezeway. While those pre-air conditioning days are long gone, the architectural influence of America’s past inspired Sarah Harper of H Design and the entire Prospect team to generate a unique floor plan for modern lifestyles.

The demands of modern life and technology pull people in all directions. The aim of the Linwood house is to bring people together. The lot shape provides the home with exceptional privacy from the street and from neighbors, allowing the architect to create a window and door design that floods the home with natural light. Stacking sliding doors marry the indoor space with the outdoors providing homeowners the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the people who matter. Relaxed yet luxurious finishes, an extraordinary floor plan and the story of a property renewed makes the Linwood house a favorite in Prospect Homes’ portfolio.

Prospect Homes is made up of an award-winning team that is focused on quality work, enduring design and outstanding customer service. Founded in 2012, Prospect Homes’ Owner, Brian Manes, brought his years of customer service and project management to the contracting and home building industry. Learning from some of Dallas’ finest builders and architects, Brian has sharpened his focus on key details that are often overlooked. All of Prospect Homes’ builds are Energy Star Certified and built to last, bringing the best value to the homeowner without compromising integrity. Brian considers it a great responsibility and an even greater privilege to build in and serve the Northwest Dallas area.

This modern design catches your eye as you drive down a street that is a mixture of old and new. Entry is through a courtyard that allows an extra layer of privacy. Once inside the fence, it is apparent this is not your average home. The storefront entry glass draws visitors into the space, a personal retreat in the heart of a busy city.

The home features open living, dining and kitchen areas that create the perfect place to gather, with a stone fireplace as the centerpiece for friends and family to congregate. The space opens up to a wonderful outside living area with pool. Upstairs in the master suite, there is a large balcony overlooking the pool—the perfect retreat to unwind after a long day or take a relaxing steam shower in the stunning master bath. Light hardwood floors, dark cabinets and walls of natural light add the perfect balance of warmth in a modern space.

Nestled into a small hillside overlooking a creek, this Lakewood home was designed and built for a family of four with a modern, clean aesthetic consisting of a wood, stucco and stone palette. The house uses several methods of green design and construction including advanced insulation, a high-performance roof, accommodation for future solar panels and passive cooling for the public spaces.

The house is intentionally designed for the way this family lives and entertains, breaking the home into public, semi-public and private zones. The entrance is an intimate gallery guiding the visitor to descend a half level to the first floor with 12-ft. ceilings, with a wide kitchen open to family living and dining space, a wine cellar, spacious guest quarters, and a formal living room designed for both media entertainment and quiet conversation. A cantilevered deck overlooks the creek beyond. The second floor allows access to a spacious rooftop terrace with fireplace overlooking the creek and deck below.

The more private areas of the second floor feature an office, three bedrooms, a central utility roo, and a master bathroom with spacious shower and steam room, freestanding tub, Italian marble, and lots of natural light. Other features include imported Italian kitchen cabinetry, central vacuum system, smart lighting systems, high tech security system, custom closets, high-quality ipe decking, and a cigar smoke exhaust system in the office.

After graduating from Baylor, Richard joined a Fortune 500 homebuilder where he quickly built a reputation for honesty, leadership and attention to detail. He developed a project management IT innovation that was ultimately adopted by the company. Subsequently, Richard was named to the Legacy Club, which ranked him among the top managers for customer satisfaction in the firm’s 50-year residential construction history.

As a Project Manager at Bauhaus Custom Homes and ArTex Development, Richard perfected his craft on a variety of ground-up single-family, multifamily, second story addition and remodel projects for celebrity and other discerning Dallas clientele.
